The Friends of Holcot: an update

More progress was made around the parish by a small team of volunteers on Friday 12 June. This included:
Cutting back shrubbery and over-long verge growth around two ‘sharp-turn’ warning chevrons on Sywell Road. Both signs are now clearly visible, as are their lines of sight. (No nesting birds or wildlife affected by this action.)
Digging out – and disposing of – copious amounts of earth and debris from drains and rain-water grills on Main Street (think The Great Escape tunnellers…)
Initial work around the bench on Brixworth Road (heading towards the reservoir). This is a work-in-progress which will be continued in a fortnight.

Added to this, during previous weeks, teams of the FoH have:
Cleaned and renovated three wooden benches
Swept and tidied up along the jitty and the bottom end of Main Street around The White Swan
Tidied up the Washbrook and around the lime tree at the bottom of Poplars Lane
Cut away ivy and other weeds around the Green
Mended the basketball hoop net and cleaned the playing area (another work-in-progress).

A big shout-out to all the volunteers who give so willingly of their time!
