Another Great Sell Out Quiz Night at The Holcot Village Hall
The 12th Banter & Batter Quiz held to raise funds for Holcot Village Hall on 19 October was a great success with lots of fun, raising £562.59. The raffle raised £309 of this and is a significant fund raiser. Thank you to all that attended, enjoying both the quiz and tasty fish & chip supper. A special thanks to those who helped us to set up the hall on Saturday and clear up on Sunday morning. Particular thanks to the couple who did a magnificent job in just about finishing the clear up on Sunday on their own before we even arrived! You know who you are.
A full capacity 13 quiz teams ‘battled’ though eight rounds of sometimes cryptic questions to an exciting finale with three teams on the same score with one round to go. The final ‘music’ round produced clear winners by just one point! The winning team was ‘Six Pack’ headed by Jackie & Deryck Watson (the organisers). They say that …….. Fish is good for the brain, so maybe the winners had slightly bigger portions during the break?
Anyway, we love to quiz and it’s good to win from time to time, so please come and give it a go at the next Banter & Batter Quiz and perhaps eat more fish in the meantime.
Our tradition is to run a spring quiz in aid of a charity with links to village residents and an autumn quiz as a fund raiser for our lovely village hall. Your next Quiz on Saturday 7 March 2020 will raise funds for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Doors open at 7:00pm for a prompt start at 7:30pm.
Several team tables have already been booked so get your teams of six together, or simply reserve your places and we’ll put some teams together. Tickets remain at £10 per person to include the fish & chips supper (other meal options are available). As usual, we will hold a raffle with excellent prizes so you can be a winner there too.
Tickets are available from Jackie Watson at The Old Orchard, opposite the village hall in Back Lane. Contact Jackie on 07808 721655 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that our landline phone number is no longer in use.
We look forward to seeing you again and to meeting new faces.
