Friends of Holcot: phase two

Friday 20 March saw another good turnout of the Friends of Holcot. Eight volunteers continued making inroads into projects first started two weeks previously.

The Jitty and Main Street both look positively pristine after a brushing and targeted pruning
Rectory Lane looks much neater and more tidy after similar treatment
– At the bottom of Poplars Lane, district nurse, Edith Meadwell’s lovely wooden bench enjoyed an overdue wash and brush-up (and will probably undergo further treatment to prolong its life and appearance).
– And, at the same site, a six-strong team went to the aid of the lime tree. Truly a sight to behold as, in a frenzy of furious activity, various bladed instruments – wielded with frightening speed and expertise – made short shrift of the suckers that were draining the life from the tree. A distinct sigh of relief was heard all round (whether from the wannabe Edward Scissorhands or the tree itself was never quite clear…)

Once again, thanks go out to everyone on the Friends of Holcot team – you are heroes all! (And if anyone out there wants to join this illustrious band, just email: editor@holcotvillage.co.uk)
