Telephone kiosk library, Main Street, Holcot

A gentle reminder to parishioners that the Main Street kiosk library is a book exchange. Meaning, theoretically at least, that every book donated should be balanced by a book borrowed.

This seldom happens of course, but this imbalance results in a very limited space becoming swamped and difficult to manage – especially when some of the books donated have very limited appeal.
For example:
 – A large coffee-table book on European holidays printed in 1963
 – A 400-page hardback written entirely in French
 – And a wildlife park guide with a phone number of ‘Wheatcroft 2073’!

Things are just about manageable at the moment, but I would ask people to bear this post in mind before donating books in the future. Many thanks.

Note: West Northamptonshire Council have confirmed that “Paperback books can be recycled in your recycling bins at home. If they are hardbacks, they need to be put in your general waste”. And if you want to donate your books, there is also a FREE book collection service – click here for more details.
